Eligibility: -Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as a Senior Researcher.
- The preferred candidate has a broad knowledge of virology with a proven record on contribution to the development of the virological discipline.
-The candidate should have internationally recognized scientific qualifications and a record of research achievements evidenced by international collaborations and authorships in high impact journals.
-Teaching qualifications (pre- and postgraduate level) will be an advantage.
-Knowledge of modern food animal production in a European setting is necessary.
-Documented management and collaboration skills at a high level, as well as the ability to inspire, motivate and supervise researchers within and across scientific disciplines are essential, as is a proven fund raising record, innovative achievements (e.g. patents), and a high publication rate.

Scholarship Description: The National Veterinary Institute has for more than 100 years conducted research on infectious diseases and disease prevention in production animals. The research has contributed to important scientific breakthroughs and the Institute has gained an excellent reputation as a provider of evidence-based scientific advice to the industry as well as to public agencies. The activities also form an important basis for collaborations with other DTU departments and with other public and private research entities, in Denmark and abroad, as well as with the Danish farming industry. To meet the future challenges, the institute has recently reorganized the scientific activities into four discipline oriented sections: virology, immunology, bacteriology/pathology and epidemiology. The general aim of the sections is to perform basic and applied research, and to translate discoveries into tools for control, prevention and treatment of major infectious diseases in production animals including fish. Activities on virology include major endemic and exotic viruses including zoonoses. The institute has modern PC-2 and PC-3 containment facilities for handling infectious agents and infected animals.
